Yatton Netball Club

Yatton V Wyvern on 11th June 2008,

What a great start to the summer season with a super win against Wyvern. The final score was Yatton 41 and Wyvern 6,

Yatton hit Wyvern hard from the start and the opposition struggled to contain the assault from the better side. New players, Sharon and Donna shot with superb accurecy, fed by the dynamic passing of Anne , Sian and Lisa and the  fantastic defence from Tor, Andrea and Debs proving inpenetrable.  Captains player of the match going to someone who played out of position with a smile, steely determination and solid play, well done Andrea, Yatton stormed to victory.

 Solid defensive play by both teams particularly the Yatton trio of Katie Colman, Jane Bridgman and Christine Berry resulted in few scoring opportunities for both sides. The centre court was strongly contested with Yatton players Sam Clarke, Claire Jenkins and Andrea Orr gaining slight advantage. They were able to supply shooters Milly Ball, Geri Hill and player of the match Charlotte Bailey, who maintained Yatton’s lead from the start, to finish off the game.

This well fought match played against the youth side Eagles, started well with the first quarter ending with the scores level. Yatton held the lead throughout, going into the final quarter five goals ahead. The resiliance of the opposition fought back leaving Yatton with no time left on the clock and the final whistle seeing Eagles 2 goals ahead. Yatton B 22 Eagles 24.

Yatton 2 played their last match of 2007 0n December 19th. It was a well fought fast paced match with good mid-court action from both sides.Silly mistakes from  Yatton allowed Nailsea to take the lead and their superior shooting left us with to much to do.  Players of the match went to Charlotte Bailey (GA) and Laura Parsons (GK).

On June 13th we played our 3rd game of the summer league against B52’s. Despite some players playing out of positions and the ground being wet we keep our heads and played a good friendly game resulting in yet another win 26 - 19.  Well done! 

Yatton Netball Club have just completed a successful winter season in the Weston Netball League, which saw Yatton A finish third in Division 1 and Yatton B finish second in Division 2.

We lead each quater by a few goals and then won the match 21 - 17!

It was an enjoyable, competitive but fun game and both teams were keen to continue despite the heavy down pours of rain and other teams abandoning their matches due to the courts and balls becoming too slippery. We made the right descision as the showers were heavy but short lived.
Our team was: Julia (Captain), Debbie, Charlie, Charlotte, Claire K-L, Jane, Anne, Sian, Jemma and our supporter Andrea.
