Run for Refuge in 2009

February 25th, 2009

England Netball is calling on its members to take on a Refuge run to help raise funds for their vital services. Refuge can offer members places in a number of high profile events and is currently recruiting for the BUPA London 10,000 on 25 May (bank holiday Monday).

This is a fantastic central London 10k with a spectacular route tipped to form part of the 2012 Olympics marathon course. You’ll run past landmarks including Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral and Trafalgar Square.

All Refuge runners are offered a free professional running vest, full fundraising pack, 10k training plan and online sponsorship page. To secure places for you and your team email fundraising@refuge.org.uk or call 020 7395 7724.

Remember to tell them you’re an England Netball member!

Yatton Youth v’s Yatton Allsorts

February 25th, 2009

Yatton Youth -v- Yatton Allsorts in a nail biting match. Tash Miles (gs) for Yatton Youth pulled out all the stops and hardly missed a goal with help from Lauren Waring (ga).  Great centre court play from Kelsey Symes (c) and player of the match Lucy Okeden (wa) with Katie Young and Jess Clemence putting in stirling performances although not in their normal positions and with great defence from Jess Reece, Yatton Youth went on to win the match 37 - 34.

Victory for Yatton 2 vs. Panthers

February 25th, 2009

Score 30-23

Yatton 2 started off strong, with good all round game play from all, taking the lead by 4 goals.

The second quarter proved tougher and Panthers managed to claw back the score line to 15-13. Yatton maintained the lead, but made the game hard for themselves. Good defending from Katie Colman and Debs Underwood helped to keep Panthers at bay, and in the forth quarter the game seemed to flow better. Good shooting from Hannah Perry and Claire Kingston-Lee helped them to secure the win, still keeping them in contention for promotion.

Players of the match went to Katie Colman and Hannah Perry.

Allsorts victorious!!

December 5th, 2008
2nd win for Yatton Alsorts (22) v Vipers (15) played on 26th Nov:-

After a shaky start in the first quarter, which was rectified by a few Team changes, Yatton soon settled in to providing a good solid performance.
Drawing at the end of the first quarter they built on this to be leading by 7 goals at the end of the first half, this lead was not eroded by Vipers who find it hard to penetrate the consistent Yatton defence (Jasmin Pang, Jess Walsh, Abbie Bryent)  and was maintained by the attack (Lydia Kemp, Jenny Wakeford and with good sound shooting from Megan Thompson (player of the match) & Alice Wilcox.

Fantastic win for Youth team

October 2nd, 2008
Yatton Youth against Vipers on 1st October 2008.

Yatton Youth played a fantastic game, every member of the team played extremely well.  As always centre court play flowed well, but with the ‘D’ ends pulling out all the stops, Yatton Youth won the match 21 - 10.

What a fantastic win, and well deserved, well done to all the girls, I knew you could do it.

Yatton V Weston 3,

August 17th, 2008

Yatton 20, Weston 3 18.

In a physical game of netball Yatton held their own and came out the victors. It was a great all round effort, with accurate shooting under pressure from Sharon and Donna, great support play around the attacking circle by Andrea and Sian, and some fantastic defending and anticipation of play in the newly formed dynamic defence of Liz and Tor. Thanks must go to Jess who was a late addition to the team on the day who played really well. Players of the match goes to Liz and Tor for superb defending which kept Yatton ahead of the game, well done!

Yatton beat the Weston Demons 3.

Weston Summer League,

Wed 30th July  Yatton v Weston Demons 3:

Yatton  35 - 4  Weston Demons 3

We started the game at a fast pace with passes constantly hitting our own players deep in the opposing half. The experience of our team shone through over the whole match and showed with result in score. It was good to see the strenght and deepth that we are putting together with Alice Wilcox, Sophie Hayward and Natasha Miles all playing their first games in the senior side from the juniors. They definitely held their own and shows Yatton netball team has a strong future.
